Pet
Photographer Assistant
The
job responsibilities of "Pet Photographer Assistant" will be
greeting the pet owner and their pet. You will assist them in
selecting up to 4 backgrounds for their portrait. There will be over
50 background sets to select from using one of our color flyers. You would
then proceed back into the studio and set up the first background.
Once the pet or pets have been placed on the posing table and posed into
the proper pose, your job switches to "pet Wrangler!" Your
main job here is to keep the pet on the table and in the pose we have
selected. (This sounds difficult but we have many tricks to
help in keeping the pet on the table.) You will then after about two
to three shots change the pose a little while keeping them on the
table. After approximately five shots have been taken the
photographer will vacuum the table and assist you in changing the set into
the next background they have selected. This process will
continue until approx. twenty shots have been taken. This
shoot will normally take less than thirty minutes.
The photographer will then go up and load the images into his computer and
the sales computer. While he's doing that, you will take the
customer and their pet up front and have them sit on the couch while
introducing them to the salesperson and explaining to them that their pets
photos will be viewed now on that monitor and that the salesperson will
assist you in placing your order.
We
are also looking for a sales person to show the customer their images just
taken in the studio. Once they view their images you will help them
select the prints and write up the orders. This is probably the easiest
of the 2 positions available. The images sell themselves.
You just write down what they want and add it up and collect the money.
Next step is to go get the next customer and do it all over again!
While the last customer is viewing their photos and placing their order,
the photographer and the assistant will be in the studio photographing the
next pet.
We normally start at 10 am and photograph a new customer every thirty
minutes until 2:30 when we break for lunch. At 3:30 we start
up again until finished, which could be 6pm or 7pm. On average we
photograph fifteen to eighteen customers a day. We will
normally photograph 2 days a week. If we have time in our schedule from
traveling we will try to photograph on a third day.
Our shoot schedule for 2006 is located on our home page:
2006 schedule
We have 6 grooming shows a years which consist of us having a Hotel room for 3
to 5 days during the
shows. We set up a booth and a studio shooting area.
We photograph the winners of the grooming competitions and show the proofs
in our booth and write up orders for those photos. In most
shows, I print the photos during the first 2 days and deliver them.
The last day of the show we photograph those winners and show the proofs
and write up orders. Those orders are printed later that week.
These shows are what gets us into the different areas of the United
States. While in those areas or traveling through those areas
we schedule grooming shops and vets photo shoot days. At our last
stop in Malibu California we photographed "Lola" from the Osborne's. Kate
Hudson's Mastiff and Billy Bob Thornton's dogs... It's a very FUN job...
During the fall & winter shoot schedule you will average between $1500 to $2000 a month. Room and
board is also covered. Meals are your responsibility.
We have a full kitchen and refrigerator. So meals can be
purchased and cooked for much less than going out to eat.
This is a list of some of the equipment we use. What I use in
my Mobile Studio is an Epson 7500 for 24'' prints, an Epson 2200 for our
11x14's and two Olympus P-440's for the package prints. Along
with the printers we use 4 computers and shoot with two loaded
E-20n's and E-1. The programs we use are Photoshop 6 and 7, Painter 7
and few plug-ins, Knockout 2, Photographic Edges, along with Wacom
Tablets.
If this sounds like something your interested in please email back your
phone number and a date your available for an interview. THESE
POSITIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT MONTH!
